World Series baseball- Red Sox vs Dodgers game 5 scorecard #mlbnotes

WORLD CHAMPIONS!! Woot woot.

The first two pages are my usual way of scoring the game. Score square to the right to allow room for notes down the left side (which may or may not have been needed for the previous inning).

The second two pages is the same game using the score stamp that @inkyourstyle made up for me. The square is larger than the normal scoresheet I was cutting up so I’ve had to rearrange my page layout a little. I’ll rejig it some more over the Australian season and be ready to go for the 2019 tilt at another World Series for the Red Sox. 💪🏼

The classic ‘game of two halves’. The first half with no offence scores and then BOOM! It all went off like a firecracker. I put it all on Sale’s firing them up at the bottom of the 6th.

Game 5 – the last of the three in Dodger Stadium – is tomorrow. The Red Sox have the chance to win it all. Otherwise it goes back to Fenway for the possible two deciders.

Play ball.

Good God Almighty, let’s not do another epic double game like that in a hurry, ok? I’ve got hand cramps.

I can only imagine what Nathan Eovaldi and young Walker Buehler are feeling like after pitching so many innings each. Nine pitchers used on each side. All of the bench used by both Managers. They threw everything at each other and at the umpires for some seriously dodgy calls on both sides.

Can’t wait for Game 4 tomorrow – but let’s keep it the regulation 9 innings, shall we.

What. A. Game.

This one had everything. Fan interference. Aggressive crowd. Some of the best fielding plays on both sides. Assertive base running. You name it.

I’m enjoying the difference in strategy both managers are using to choreograph their pitching talent, how they manage them, use them and when they sit them is fascinating.

In Res Sox tradition, the ‘win wall’ photo was that final catch by Benintendi. He needs a cape 💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

Playing catch up at 1am Aussie time.

Game notes/scoresheet for game 3. JBJ’s grand slam and some low pitch outs from the bullpen. Awesome game. I am loving the concept of ‘being humble at the plate’. Terrific way to approach your at bat – not going for glory and the big ding – but playing strategic.

I love articles like these. They jog my head out of the status quo and back into thinking proactively.

It’s said that you are most affected by and mirror the 5 people you spend the most time with. If those 5 people are happy to chug along without driving or striving, then it’s up to the individual to break their own mold.

Waiting isn’t my forte

My life is apparently in one of those “holding patterns” at the moment. It’s rare to hit a patch where every aspect of life is being delayed – work, home, health, hobbies, everything. But that’s what I’ve got. Yay, karma. Times like these frustrate the hell out of me. I want things done when I want them done. I’m happy to pay for them to be done when and how I want them. (It’s why I put up with a sucky workplace). But all these plans depend on other people getting around to it. The realisation that I can’t do this because …forms have gone missing; noone answers their phone; information isn’t forthcoming; systems are not configured so that they work correctly; the whole is not completed with the sum of the parts provided with the instructions; or my personal favourite – bickering childishness – he said, she said. Arghhhhhhhh!

Don’t get me wrong, I can procrastinate along with the best of them. I am slow and methodical in doing things. I don’t move quickly – needing to research each part of an entire project before beginning the first step. But when I’m ready to go, when the plans, small window of time, my money and a sliver of opportunity is there – aligned – and someone else yells “WHOA!” I could take their head off with a cricket bat. Truly.

There’s got to be a way to shift something. Get someone else moving. All I need is for one element to move in a forward direction and I’m sure, Pied Piper-like, the rest would follow to see where it’s going. It makes such a difference to my attitude and outlook to have something moving. I need a positive perspective to get me through my day, but it’s difficult to muster one when it seems that everything is stalled.

In the past I’ve driven myself into the ground trying to insert a plug of dynamite under immovable objects. It only ends up giving me migraine. So I am trialling taking a deep breath in and lowering my shoulders while I breathe out. It seems all I can do is keep chipping away at the things I can do myself. It doesn’t get anyone shifting any quicker, but it certainly lowers my blood pressure. IMG_0495

Who knew it was this simple?

All these years I’ve had a looooooonnng list of things to do in my head, each and every day. I try to do a little of each one (if not all of them) and when I run out of time or fall in a heap cranky and sore, I’d tell myself how rubbish I am.

All I had to do was focus on one thing a day. And do it. Easy. Two days and two sets of drawers in my craft room. Beads now have a place to live and I feel able to actually do some craft.

The Plan

attitude, Proactive

I approach each day intending to DO something towards my goals. My day usually gets high jacked by work, reacting to work, thinking about the reaction at work, then getting home and collapsing. I then beat myself up for not taking even one small step towards where I want to be. And yes, I know I’m my own worst enemy. Believe me, I know.

Today’s plan is simple. I will work, then shop for ingredients to make my own Harissa, then when home, I will put together one of the two drawer sets for my craft room. Just one of them. That is all. I can do that – no matter what rubbish hits the fan in the workplace.

Lets see how I go with a short list.

I’m not sure which one I am.  Mostly, I’m a Jedi – Yoda-like with sage advice and teachings.  My workplace treats me like a Stormtrooper pawn when I’d much prefer to be a shoot-to-kill Boba Fett.  I can speak bits of a few languages – C3PO.  And can hotwire machines like R2D2.  And as much as I AM a Princess, for one week every month, I’m Chewbacca and could tear your arms clear off of your body.

A salute to Jeremy Piven for this photo.  Ain’t it the truth though?  “Oh woe is me” has never been so prevalent…First World Problems they’re called.  Where’s our sense of perspective gone?  Have we forgotten where we come from?  We grew up in houses – not in mud huts.  We were dry and clean and warm.  Do we not look at those around us – all struggling with problems of their own – or do we look straight through them?

I refuse to believe Australia is getting to the point where everyone who has more “haves” than “nots” doesn’t give a stuff until it’s them that loses out.  There’s a lot of community spirit around, I see it everyday.  I’ve been in workplaces where it’s the lowest paid members of staff who always “bring a plate” to celebrate life’s milestones.  I’ve been in workplaces where the top dog earning nearly $200k a year can’t put a bottle of plonk on the table – because the tank in his beemer is nearly empty.

What’s the minimum you need?  A roof, a job to pay for it and you and your family healthy. Period.

attitude, Lesson, life, perspective

20120524-225353.jpg

Today’s lesson is that we’re never on our own, never really the first at anything. Someone has always gone through what we find ourselves faced with. And there’s a comfort in that. If other people can deal with my problems and come out the other side then so can I.

  • feeling lonely
  • scared of losing their job
  • actually losing their job
  • traveling solo
  • being broke
  • feeling unwell
  • facing their mortality
  • burying a loved one
  • scaling a mountain
  • breaking new ground
  • asking for help
  • raising children
  • breaking the rules

We’re not “Pat Malone”. Someone has done it before us. The context might be different, but the experience is the same the whole world over. And you know what, others come through it with less support, less resources, less education, health, wealth and security then we’ve got. Being mindful of that gives a perspective that is priceless. Hang on to it.

    attitude, spirit, Tattoo

    20120521-224748.jpg

I’ve been thinking about getting this tattoo for a while. I need something to help remind me to respect myself – my thoughts, my feelings, my wants and my needs. I find I let them (me) take second place quite often.

I think there are a lot of people like me out there. We have no say at work because we’re the ‘drones’. We go along with social plans and ideas because its not polite to make waves – and really is it a big deal? And of course we all get brought up to accommodate family – no question – because we love them. Fair enough.

I need something to remind me that my say isn’t always secondary, even though:-

    1) I get scared. I’m terrified of making a wrong choice so I dither and am unsure.
    2) I worry too much – thinking things through an infinite number of “if this, then that” scenarios.
    3) I retreat from conflict. I don’t want to offend or upset anyone.
    4) I compromise – or delay agreeing 🙂
    5) I don’t act on my ideas because I fear judgement and derision.
    6) I get depressed about feeling “pushed into” a position that ultimately my behaviors allow.

So, I want a visible and constant sign to let me know that my choices are ok and that my say counts. My decisions made for me might disappoint others, but that’s not my problem. I should stand my ground.

“Courage is a kind of salvation” – I’m hoping Aristotle was right.

    attitude, breathe, perspective, roses, Work

Work has been a little unsettled of late.  There’s a reshuffle going on with the higher paid members of the office community – not that anyone is saying anything.  It’s like the powers that be are more happy to shift everything on paper and then tell the pieces the news and suffer the fallout.

I am one of the pieces.  So how do I deal with being the last to know when it’s my 8 hours a day that’s changing?  Beats me actually – I don’t do it that well.  I go back to the important principles of leadership.  The things I value in a boss – honesty, straight-forward info, handshakes, open communication and telling it like it is to the face of the person that it is too…if that makes sense.  Basically I think I expect the kind of behaviour that doesn’t get delivered in times like these.

My “Queen CLM” title (ie. career-limiting-moves) comes from my not being able to look a game-player in the eye once I see how they make their moves.  I lose a lot of respect for people very quickly.  I know they don’t care about it – but I’ve never been good ~ never will be good ~ at pretending how they play the game doesn’t matter.

I don’t smile when someone’s blowing smoke up my arse. And I sure as hell don’t thank them for it.  But, that’s my problem – so I buy myself some roses and sleep well at night.  Not sure how they sleep – but that’s their problem.

Today, I watched the documentary on Ayrton Senna. That weekend at Imola was beyond shocking. 1 May 1994. I was expecting the doco to paint him only positively and there is a little glossing over in there – but that doesnt mean whats presented isnt true – its just not complete. He was much loved worldwide, and the hope and pride of Brasil.

Senna was an awesome driver – particularly in wet conditions. Watch the first lap of Donington 1993 and youll see why. His stats are incredible – some still stand. Easily the best of the best. In the interviews I remember seeing while he was alive, he always answered honestly. Although I dont recall seeing so many where he mentioned his faith as was shown in the doco, it was still there in the little I remember from the early 90s.

His arch-rival – and doesnt there always need to be one? – was Alain Prost. Like Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton, Schumacher and everyone, Ayrton the Upstart pushed the Professors buttons. It was through their competitiveness that I began to see the politics behind the sport. Considering their animosity at times, Alain Prost was a pallbearer at Sennas funeral and is still a trustee of the foundation set up in Sennas name. That fact surprised me. Gentlemen at the end who realized they brought the best, and perhaps the worst, out of each other in the fight to win.

Awesome DVD. I highly recommend it.
