I’m well pleased with my first knitting project for the winter.
It’s a very easy scarf but I think it looks great.
Go the Reds!

Oh I do love a red carpet.  It’s where the fabulous meets the notorious with some star power razzle dazzle in the mix.  Fashion shows are about the clothes, red carpets are more about the horse wearing them.

This year’s Academy Awards was a little disappointing – with nothing really blowing me away.  The ladies definitely brought the colour this year, with no real standout theme.  I suppose white was the most popular, but it’s difficult to “pick a winner” when the looks range from girly-flutter through to hard edged couture.

The best dressed women are the ones most comfortable in their skin.  Who dress for their shape and know this is them.  I find little attractive about the ones trussed up to project something they are truly not.  Young things dressing too old (bless them).  Old things dressing young (thanks for the laughs!).

This Oscars was the wrong person in the wrong dress.  I think they should have a swap meet and ‘do-over”.

Sandra Bullock – safe, but never offensive.

Pene Cruz – old school glamour. I like this colour.

Natalie Portman – in spots. On the red carpet. In SPOTS.

Ms Meryl Streep. FABULOUS!!

Another beige feathery thing. Horrid.

Kate Mara – aka Vampire’s Bride – she’s about to go postal and attack the photographer.

God this is pretentious. The only person who can wear a cape has a name that ends with *man.

I didn’t like this style on Nicole Kidman, and I don’t like it now. Sooky-lala doesn’t make a fashionista.

Is it me? Diaz always looks grubby. Another beige feathery thing and points off for the strap marks.

Octavia Spencer is fabulous. She knows what suits her, and she wears it gracefully. Top marks.

Sheezh. Why try so hard? Angelina’s already won all the everything. Ridiculous and actually detracts from the dress.

Jo Lo attempting another “shock and awe” – missing the mark.

Oh, I do love a red carpet….

Dianna Agron – fabulous colour. Striking. I Like it.

Dianna Agron in a Carolina Herrera dress.

Brooke Anderson – tv presenter…do not like the massive clutch, it’s too stark … Maybe if she had a black accent on the dress?

Renee Bargh playing Zena the Warrior Princess meets Troy. Very busy outfit – 6 ‘looks’ in one.

Berenice Bejo in a Ralph Lauren dress. Red carpet staple style.

Emily Blunt – the only one in green this year? Very fresh.

Julie Bowen – safe with maximum coverage in the top, but lovely colour.

Haaaaaaaaa!! Rose Byrne putting one HUGE McDonald sized hoof wrong.

Dear me, Rose Byrne – this is an Elie Saab outfit (who I adore) but why? This is straight out of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Jennifer Carpenter looking for someone…I mean something to eat. Very fierce looking.

Jessica Chastain in one of a few thin strap cami dress…it’s a bit Elly-May for me. Very basic.

Emilia Clark in feathers…lots of feathers, and tulle….very fussy.

Gorgeous George and Stacy Keibler in Marchesa.

Glenn Close

Glenn Close. Work it baby.

Kaley Cuoco from the Big Bang Theory. Bazinga. Very light peppermint colour.

Ms Davis in Marchesa. Smokin’

Viola Davis looking FABULOUS!!

Tina Fey in Versace.

Judy Greer wearing an Aussie designer.

Hooray! Judy Greer in a Collette Dinnagin outfit.

One of my favourites – Amber Heard in a dress by Zac Posen. The cutout work is stunning.

I like this dress a lot – Temperley is the designer. Sarah Hyland is really developing a lovely, young, look. Lea Michelle, take note.

Beat that!

Jolie is wearing a Jenny Packham outfit…she just ‘is’, isn’t she.

Yikes!

Jane Krakowski in an Antonio Berardi…lamb/mutton Numero Uno. This bodice belongs on a Anna Paquin or such. Very aggressive dressing.

Jessica Lange – old school hollywood…except in daggier glasses. A little ‘I don’t care, I’m fabulous anyway’?

Jane Lynch from Glee – fantastic dress. Terrific colour and a great cut for a tall lady.

Julianna Marguilies in Calvin Klein. WAY better than the Globes nightmare.

Julianna Marguilies. Star.

Jayma Mays – this looks lovely. This shoulder line was a popular style.

Jayma Mays from Glee in a Reem Acra dress.

Massive improvement on the outfit for the Globes – same designer though.

Melissa McCarthy in another Badgley Mischka design – much much better than the Globes outfit. The draping is terrific.

Maria Menounous – tv presenter – this dress looks like a tight fitting cami…another thin strap number.

Lea Michele in a Versace design.

Would someone please tell Lea Michele that she’s fast turning into the joke that only she takes seriously. Those poses – crikey!

Penelope Miller – I don’t know who she is, but this dress looks like it’s skirt lost it’s “umph”.

Gretchen Mol in a L’Wren Scott outfit – and I loooooove it. Very reminiscent of a Cate Blanchett/Uma Thurman number. One of my faves for the night.

Nancy O’Dell from Entertainment Tonight. Any excuse to dress up I suppose :). Classic style.

Kelly Osbourne – much better than the Globes outfit. Better cut. Better sleeve. Better.

Busy Phillips – bwahahahahahahahaha. The hippy sit in is that a way… What do they think, I wonder…

Natalie Portman in a Giambattista Valli design. Gorgeous. Classic Hollywood.

Guiliana Rancic – tv presenter. That’s strike two lady – the Globes and now…maybe needed the hair up.

Amber Riley from Glee in a Badgeley Mischka design. Cute.

Naya Rivera from Glee – who needs bling when you have a dress like this?

Shaun Robinson – tv presenter. Popular colour. Did Madonna wear this in her ‘Material Girl’ video?

Odd angle for this photo of Maya Rudolph – not so flattering look at the dress by Neem Khan.

Maya Rudolph – this photo does her much more justice…

Zoe Saldana – this is a Givenchy design. Looks great from afar.

Zoe Saldana – up close looks like a glitzy kaftan with a work out tank underneath.

Kyra Sedgwick – lamb/mutton for Mrs Bacon? *pun intended*. Not a big fan of the cut out dresses – people look uncomfortable in them. I think this colour washes her out also.

Does anyone know why Ashlee Simpson is here? No? Me neither. Another Jenny Packham number.

Octavia Spencer looks terrific again. Fabulous hair up do.

Emma Stone going all black and formal. Short dress now for the big sweeping long number for the Oscars?

Emma Stone in an Alexander McQueen.

Meryl Streep – she rocks the grey tones. Awesome.

Tilda Swinton has found her mojo – or a good stylist who likes Lanvin.

Tilda Swinton – this is two good outfits in a row. Fab.

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa.

It’s only when you see side-on that you notice how far the dress angles at the front. Excellent for stashing the Sizzler salad bar for later, but not here….

Betty White – I think she raided the Golden Girls wardrobe. Bless.

Kristen Wiig – not sure about the choker with the neckline of the outfit.

Wiig’s dress is a Balenciaga design.

Michelle Williams – Valentino.

Michelle Williams in a lovely Valentino number.

Ariel Winter from Modern Family – a bit of an older look than her Globes dress. Nice though.

This is gorgeous. Shailene Woodley in a L’Wren Scott dress.
